Job Description

The role

You will support our Nurses and wider clinical team to deliver safe, high‑quality care to patients on our hospital wards. You will assist with patient comfort, transport, equipment, and general ward support to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Transporting patients to X‑ray, ECG and other departments
  • Restocking and rotating consumables, reporting low stock
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and sluice areas
  • Assisting patients with showers, call bells, newspapers and general comfort
  • Supporting patients and their families/whānau with kindness and professionalism

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You are a caring, reliable team player who enjoys supporting others and contributing to a positive ward environment. You will also bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Experience interacting with customers or patients
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Level 4 Healthcare Assistant qualification (preferred)
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • The right to work in New Zealand
