About the role
You will play a critical role in patient safety by ensuring surgical instruments are cleaned, sterilised, and ready for use. You will be responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, sterilisation, and tracking of surgical instruments.
You will:
- Reprocess reusable surgical instruments for theatre and other services
- Instrument cleaning, inspection, assembly and packing
- Operating sterilising equipment (autoclaves, washers)
- Monitoring sterilisation cycles and quality assurance
- Monitor and track equipment, maintaining accurate records
- Identify and communicate faults or maintenance needs
- Support smooth theatre operations through reliable instrument supply
About you
You are detail-focused, reliable, and take pride in high standards of work. You thrive in a team environment and stay calm under pressure.
You’ll also bring:
- NZQA Level 3 Sterilising qualification (preferred)
- Experience in SSD / CSSD / sterile services (preferred)
- Knowledge of surgical instrument handling and assembly
- Understanding of sterilisation processes and infection control
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced theatre environment
