About Us
At Wakefield Hospital, we perform a wide range of diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures. And with a long-standing history of serving the lower North Island, we are proud to be the largest private hospital in the Wellington region.

About the role
As the Wakefield Specialist Centre Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing a warm welcome to all consultants, patients, staff and all visitors to Wakefield Specialist Centre.
You will also: 

  • Be prompt, courteous and have an empathetic response to incoming telephone calls 
  • Arrange, and reorganise appointments for patients and ensuring each patient has an appointment as near as possible to their requested date and urgent patients are given the soonest available appointment 
  • Assist patients with queries and provide accurate information 
  • Do a daily collection and distribution of mail, as well as invoicing and receipting 
  • Maintain the reception and waiting area, informing maintenance staff of any repairs needed 
  • Collect patient payment 

This is a permanent position for 80 hours per fortnight and is located at the Specialist Centre in Wakefield Hospital, Newtown, Wellington.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you
As the Receptionist, you will have a high standard of personal presentation and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences: 

  • Proven reception experience 
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite 
  • Knowledge of the medical receptionist field, an advantage 
  • Well-developed telephone and computer skills  
  • Well-developed communication skills and an ability to form professional working relationships with a wide range of people
