About Us
At Bowen Hospital, we perform a wide range of diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures. Situated in the picturesque hills of Crofton Downs, we pride ourselves on the exceptional outcomes we deliver to everyone in our care.

About the role
As the Nurse Educator, you will be the onsite lead for nursing education and professional development at Bowen Hospital. You will design, deliver, and evaluate education programmes that build clinical competence and capability across our nursing workforce. 
This is an autonomous role with strong professional support from a network of Nurse Educators across Evolution Healthcare, as well as Bowen Hospital leadership. 
Key responsibilities include: 

  • Developing, coordinating, and delivering structured orientation programmes for new nursing staff 
  • Facilitating nursing workforce development aligned with clinical and organisational goals 
  • Providing nursing leadership through expert clinical knowledge and professional practice 
  • Providing clinical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to nursing staff 
  • Coordinating education activities across the hospital, including student placements 
  • Identifying learning needs and responding to emerging clinical trends and best practice 
  • Evaluating education outcomes to support quality improvement and patient safety 

This is a permanent role for 80 hours per fortnight and is located at Bowen Hospital, Crofton Downs, Wellington. 

Desired Skills and Experience

About you
You are a Registered Nurse who is passionate about education, learning, and developing others. You bring credibility, confidence, and a collaborative approach to supporting high standards of nursing practice. 
You will have: 

  • Current NZ Registered Nurse Practising Certificate 
  • 3 to 5 years’ recent clinical nursing experience 
  • Sound knowledge of the New Zealand health system (private sector experience advantageous) 
  • Postgraduate qualification in nursing (completed or working towards) 
  • Certificate in Adult Education and Training (completed or working towards) 
  • Awareness of current and emerging nursing practice trends 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital learning tools
